I actually enjoy the series, though it is quite fun to make fun of. Also, Meyer hooks people in in such a way that my cooperating teacher who hates fantasy needed to borrow my “Breaking Dawn” book just so she could know the exact details of the ending.

Also, Anne Rice writes the vampires much better

I haven’t read them yet, but my 8th grade girls are ALL about it. I don’t really like vampires as a concept, because blood makes me feel queasy and the idea of drinking it is really gross to me (one reason I have a hard time with the doctrine of transubstantiation). Also, I like to be smug and not read what everyone else is reading. I did the same thing with Harry Potter until my brother made us listen to it on a car trip and then I got hooked. I imagine it will be the same for this.
But also, teen romance=barf!!!!!!!!!

The comic are funny. I haven’t read any of it, but all the hype about it makes me not want to. There must be eleventeen million flair about it… that alone was enough to make me summarily hate it.

Who knows, it might not suck.. but if anyone can get through the hype and annoying obsession with it….

This is funny…I got my hair cut yesterday and Kay, my hair dresser of like since I’ve been born (my mom was seeing her before I was born, so. Kay’s always cut my hair), was telling me how she started reading Twilight, since it was recommended to her by a client. I started getting into ranty mode, and I haven’t read the books.

Everything I know about Twilight I learned from Fandom Wank. Well, except the leak of Midnight Sun I just had to let myself read…anyway just from what I’ve heard? Ugh! There’s nothing romantic about a guy removing your car engine so you can’t go see someone else, and then forgiving him immediately afterward…that’s just going into, “tee hee, I’m a girl, and because of that only a guy can know what’s best for me.” Also there’s all kinds of creepy about a guy sneaking into your bedroom via your window and then, when the window squeaks, making a a mental note to himself how he has to bring oil for the window for the *next time* he snuck into the room.

I guess you can say I didn’t really realize how much of a feminist I was until I started reading about Twilight.

By the way, you neglected to mention that the vampires *sparkle in the sunlight*, instead of, you know, dying.
